After working on set now with anywhere up to thirty kits of Astera Titans and Helios at a time its amazing how much of your grip package ends up disappearing into heavy, overly complicated rigs for something as basic as a TV effect or overhead soft-box. Or you go the other route of raiding the consumables for zip-ties to “securely” attach several tubes together. Sure this rings a bell?

There are solutions out there that make rigging easier. However, they don’t take into account the ever changing nature of that is a film set hence the saying “do nothing, get ahead”. Rigging one tube ahead of time on the day might become rigging three in its place. You would normally need to grab all manner of additional grip to do this. With The Talon Clamp you simply slide two more lights into place. Its as easy as that and it does so much more.

Its time saving features allow you to stay one step ahead when time is on top of you, as well as opening up more simplistic methods of rigging.

The Talon Clamp is going to change the way you use your Astera LED Tubes.

FEATURES

Custom Designed Receiver

With its central stainless-steel receiver you don’t even need a spigot or knuckle to mount your lights. Slot and lock it straight on a lighting stand or end of a boom and your done.

On the other hand, add a spigot and it can go straight into a knuckle or K-Clamp hung in a rig or on a stand. A spigot can even be side mounted into the receiver allowing for even more versatility when rigging.

The central receiver has been designed to allow for 90 degrees of rotation, enabling you to spin your light from portrait to landscape orientation and visa-versa. Loosen the lock-off, push up and rotate. once in position, pull down and tighten the lock-off.

When using The Talon Clamp for example side mounted on a C-stand without and spigot or knuckle, you can orientate your light vertically, horizontally or straight into the receiver horizontally. When using a flag-boom or mega-boom and spigot-adapter you can do the same which will come in handy. Then use more traditionally in conjunction with any standard 16mm spigot.

Modular Locking Design

You no longer need specialist grip-heads that can hold several tubes. No more do you need to unscrew spigots or disassemble and re-assemble rigs. With a kit of modular Talon Clamps you can mount your lights as individuals, then when you need to group several together you simply slot them into each other. It’s as simple as that.

One of the main features of The Talon Clamp is that it’s modular. If you need to add another light next to an existing one, you can simply slide and click the second Talon clamp into the first without the need for additional stands, grip or re-rigging set lights.

The receiver is short enough that when several Talon Clamps are joined together the central Talon acts as the central mounting point, making groups of three and five preferable.

Larger groups of Talon Clamps are possible. With all the receivers orientated in the same direction you can slide any number of Talons down a flag arm or any 16mm rod. The benefit of using this method is that you can join more Talon Clamps together when using two or more receivers as rigging points for the added stability.

In order to install or switch out lights using this rigging method all Talons will need to be loose in order to install or remove them so be sure to install the lights into the clamps before rigging.

Made from robust materials

The Talon Clamp is made with materials that are set ready. With all the mounting, rigging and tightening components of the design made from Stainless Steel as custom parts or off the shelf components. The Talon clamps body and arms that are printed in ‘PA12 Nylon’ a robust heat and chemical resistant thermoplastic that is incredibly durable in all manner of working environments. Between the clamp and the lights are soft grips printed with 95A TPU which hold them firmly in place. Their ridge-cut design reduces friction so you are still able to manually twist the lights when the clamp is tight, allowing you to focus them where needed.
